This quote is so true. What renders these words even more powerful is that they were uttered by someone who accomplished so much against all odds. Positive thinking can lead to a lot of positive changes in one’s life. Developing an optimistic outlook can be good for both your physical and mental health. Optimistic people tend to be resilient and learn how to persevere and overcome adversity.  They are hope filled with their attitude and rarely look down to bleakness of  people or circumstances.

In life no matter what comes at us we have to keep an optimistic mind hoping for something good to come out of the circumstances whether good or bad.  Helen Keller is such an inspiration being deaf and blind she was taught how to communicate and she became an author, political activism and lecturer. And throughout her life and activism she challenged the stereotypes and said that people with disabilities can live a full and complete life.  She had an optimistic way of thinking to be able to come so many obstacles.
I always believe in the power of positive thinking and its impact on life. Positive thinking and hoping for the best has  always proved to have good impact.  Here is a small story to tell you what being optimistic can do
My friend was waiting in line for a ride at the airport in Dubai. When a cab pull up the first thing my friend  noticed was that the taxi was very clean and the taxi driver was well dressed.  The driver jumped out and open the back passenger door for my friend.  He handed him a laminated card and said ” I am Abdul your driver, while I am loading your luggage at the back I would like you to read my mission statement.”  Taken aback my friend took the card and begin reading it is said “Abdul’s mission statement : to get my customers to the destination in a quicker safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment. This blew my my friend’s away. Specially when he noticed the inside of the cab match the outside spotlessly clean. As he slid behind the wheel Abdul asked “would you like a cup of coffee? I’ve a cup of regular and one of decaf.” And my friend said jokingly that he would prefer a soft drink.  Immediately Abdul smiled and said “no problem I’ve a cooler upfront with regular and diet coke, water, orange juice and Lassi.” My friend choose to drink Lassi.
Abdul handed him his drink and ask my friend ” would you like to read ? I have the NSD Star and Sun Today. As they were  pulling away Abdul handed my friend another laminated card which read these are the stations I get and the the music they played and asked ” would like to listen to the radio? ” And as if it was not enough Abdul told my friend that he had the A/C on  and ask if the temperature was comfortable for my friend.  Then he advised my friend the best route to  his destination for that time of the day. He also let my friend know that he would be happy to chat and tell my friend some of the sites  or  my friend prefer to be left alone with  his own thoughts.
My friend was amazing and asked  Abdul whether  he had  always customers like this. Abdul smile into the  rear view mirror and said “no not always, it has only been in the last 2 years.  In the first five years of my driving I almost spent complaining like the rest of the cabbies did.” Then he  heard about the power of choices and being optimistic. This has helped Abdul to be above the rest and he changed his attitude. As Abdul said this my friend looked around and noticed other drivers.  the cabs were  dirty and drivers were friendly and also customers were  unhappy.  Abdul said that  he decided to make changes slowly a few at a time when his customers responded well he did more. All this had a  positive response as his income doubled in the previous year and this year is going to quad triple it.  Now his customers call him on his number for appointment or leave a message on it.
Abdul decided to change his attitude and be optimistic and stop quacking  like a duck and soar high like an eagle and that has changed his life for his own good. I believe that we all should stop complaining and take responsibility because we all are born to soar high Like an eagle and not quick and complain like the duck .
Be optimistic and stick to it. You’ll be astound yourself.

  1. Dear Keen Writer,
What impressed me most about this article is the wonderful story of Abdul, the cab driver. A narrative gives such a fresh spin-off to any common quote, such that your writing becomes interesting. Would you add more such anecdotes, personal or rarely heard ones, in your future articles, if that suits your chosen topics?
I enjoyed reading this one. It's a powerful way of communicating how taking accountability for our own attitude will make or break us.
    Keep writing.

    1. Sure will try and include more stories related to topics I choose. This was just a trial to see if it goes well with my readers and see that it has more impact so I will continue it. Thanks for your suggestion and feedback. Keep supporting .
